Pianist Shao-Hsun Chang, York International Artists silver medalist, presents two solo concerts this month in her native Taiwan.
The first half of her performance features music by W A Mozart and transcriptions by Franz Liszt of works by Charles Gounod and Franz Schubert. The second half features the complete original suite 'Pictures at an Exhibition' by Modest Mussorgsky. A photo series by Alton Thompson, exhibited in tandem, interprets the images of Mussorgsky and his dedicatee Viktor Hartmann through scenes of modern Taiwan: its people, culture, and landscape.
Ms Chang is a winner of the Metropolitan International Piano Competition, the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and other international awards. Ms Chang holds music degrees from the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei, Taiwan, and the Peabody Conservatory of Music at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
